Drama, Cars, Angels, And Gender Swap!

"Misfile" by Chris Hazleton was the webcomic that really inspired me to get WebcomicZ up and running. At the time when I first started reading it, I had no way of knowing if it was well known or not and wanted a way to share it with other people. In fact, one of my first posts when I created the forum was about "Misfile". It's taken a while for me to make an official review but I'll be honest, I haven't read it in a while. Buying the books and posting smaller, bite-sized reviews of them seemed like a good way to read through the series again.
The Content
"Misfile 1" is the story of two teenagers, Ash and Emily, whose lives are turned upside down when a pot-smoking angel, Rumisiel, misfiles some very important information in Heaven. By doing so, Ash, who used to be a teenage boy, is now a girl. Ash is the only one who remembers the boy he used to be. Emily, on the other hand, has the misfortune of having the last 2 years of hard studying, extracurricular activities and her eventual acceptance into Harvard wiped from existence; but not from her memory. The two of them, with the oft-inebriated help of the stoner angel, try to deal with the situation while working to find a way to fix it.
The first volume of the series collects 130 pages of the online comic. Reading it as a self-contained graphic novel it feels very much like a pilot for a television show. While ending with a nice resolution to a mini-arc, it still leave you interested in the potential of the overall plot. It establishes the characters, the plot and creates some minor conflict to be resolved at the end of the "episode". All very standard pilot stuff.
